Imagine Helsinki naked, without its green clothing. Imagine the parks and streets with no trees; imagine the courtyards and squares with no shrubs, flowers or grass. What would the city be with no trees or shrubs?
Helsinki is proud of its green clothes. Regardless of ever changing fashion they offer beauty and refreshment to people. The unique composition of our plants is a mixture from the East and the West, a mixture of something own and something borrowed. In this exhibition you can look at the past and wonder what might be the future of plants in Helsinki. Find out about Helsinki’s parks, trees and shrubs and the long-lost stories of the gardeners who tended them!
